The Taste Test

This summer we decided to have some friends and family try the grass fed/ grass finished beef from the Double S Ranch. We were excited and anxious to receive feedback about our product. One family had a taste test of their own. Here is their story:

"I was given three angus beef rib eyes to taste and evaluate. This being my first intentional effort in evaluating grass fed/finished beef I thought it appropriate to go all out and conduct a taste test. Combining the taste test with an existing family event, we had ten adults and four children who took part. I visited a local organic store and purchased grass fed/finished hereford and longhorn beef. Additionally I purchased some grain finished beef from a local grocery store to add to the mix. Seasoning each steak the same and cooking each according to best practices. I presented each guest with a blind taste test making available bite size squares of steak placed upon colored toothpicks. The four plates were passed around and each guest had samples before them. I asked them to evaluate for flavor, texture and after-taste. Unsure how it would go, I was quite relieved when all 10 adults unanimously chose the Double S Angus (red toothpick) as their top choice. Three of the four children also chose the Angus as their top choice with my son (6yrs old) choosing the Angus as his second favorite…I’m not entirely sure he understood the rules. The event was a success and the 2S Angus beef was the winner for the day."  - David, Mansfield, TX
