Why Not Eat Meat?

Over the years it seems that we have been fed bad information about eating less meat. There is no proven health benefit to avoiding meat. However, we still hear that vegans and vegetarians are healthier. Truthfully that is because vegans and vegetarians tend to be more health conscious in general. It has nothing to do with the lack of meat in their diet.  Meat has also been blamed for new health problems... which is kind of funny since meat has been eaten way longer than those health problems have even existed. So why blame meat? 

Truthfully lean, unprocessed, grass-fed and grass-finished meat is actually healthy for you. In fact it's among the most nutritious foods in the world. This type of meat is high in vitamin B12, B6, zinc, selenium and many other vitamins and minerals. As we've mentioned before, grass-fed meats are also high in healthy fats (omega 3 and 6). The high quality protein found in grass-fed and grass-finsihed meats are key for good muscle and bone function.

Here are a few nutrients that you cannot find in any plants but can only be found in grass-fed/ grass-finished, lean meats.  Vegetarians and vegans tend to lack these important nutrients. 

Vitamin B12- Important is for the brain, nervous system and the formation of blood.

Creatine- Forms energy reserves in the muscles and the brain and is important for good physical and mental performance.

Carnosine- This is a powerful antioxidant that protects against degenerative processes. 

So fire up your grill tonight and enjoy some grass-fed/ grass-finished meat.... your health may depend on it!
