Ranch Issues- Water

It's a wet day in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. That's a good thing, but I can't help but wonder how much water the ranch is soaking up, if any. The drought is still fierce at the ranch and water is always on our minds. We received yet another letter in the mail about Palo Pinto County being in Stage 3 of the drought plan. It's not looking good for the county.

Luckily we have multiple water sources at the Ranch:
1.  Lake Palo Pinto Area Water Supply Corporation.  We have three meters on the ranch.....two are active.
2.  A water well on property we currently lease for grazing
3.  Eleven tanks....currently nine hold drinkable water for our cattle.
4.  Cistern....active and full but not in use.

The drought has elevated the stress on our water sources.  We are constantly reviewing our needs and usage.  Water is an extremely important resource for us and our livestock.
